Get Folk'd - Saturday 21st March 2026
Get Folk’d! At Carnglaze Caverns 21/03/26
Here Ye, Here Ye! Get Folk’d! Is coming to Carnglaze Caverns! What on earth is that your probably
wondering? Well lets dive in…
What’s Get Folk’d!?
"GRASSROOTS MUSIC IS WHERE IT ALL BEGINS"
In 2024 Singer/Songwriter Seamus McKenna set up his own promotions company - "Get
Folk'd!" in response to the decrease in opportunities for local grassroots artists to perform
ticketed events - "There are too many incredible musicians out there who don't have
enough opportunities to play proper shows, instead they find themselves stuck in the
corner of a pub, mostly ignored, whilst the football takes precedent in the background".
Get Folk’d! was set up to counter this and provide artists the stage and audience they
deserve. So far they have been a huge success collaborating with renowned grassroots
venues such as The Cornish Bank, The Fish Factory, Shoals Brewery, Helton Old Chapel
and many more. If you want to support your local grassroots music scene, a Get Folk’d!
Event is the place to start!
Who do we have playing?
18:00 - 18:45:
Seamus McKenna - Solo artist Séamus McKenna has over a decades experience in
writing, recording and performing. Mixing influences from his Irish Roots, Acoustic folk and
Americana Séamus has an unique yet familiar sound. Racking up an average of 150+
Gigs a year, Seamus is no stranger to a crowd.
In 2024 Seamus moved from the North of England to Cornwall in search of inspiration. His
time in the ancient county has provided him with a wealth of local musicians to collaborate
with. He is currently curating a series of events called "Get Folk'd!" Promoting local artists
and helping support the grassroots music scene. He is also working on a number of
collaborative songs with other artists in the area.
Seamus has hit the ground running in 2025 working on a huge collaboration of songs,
festivals and events. Highlights of the year include performing at Paradhis festival (main
stage), St Ives Arts Club, The Poly Theatre Falmouth, Newquay Food Festival, Porthleven
Food Festival, Penzance Food Festival, Dart Music Fest (main stage), The Cornish Bank,
The Fish Factory, The KCM, Falmouth Pavilions and many many more.
2026 will see the release of his first studio album “Keep on Keeping On” - recorded in a
day at Toucan Studios, Falmouth, by fellow local legends Will Eason and Sam Richardson,
this album is a folk album in it’s truest sense. Raw, uncompromising - It is Seamus exactly
how you hear him on stage.
Séamus is now based in Porthleven, Cornwall and continues to build a following through
regular touring, festivals and local shows and working with the artists community to
continue to create a better environment for artists to flourish in.
19:00 - 19:45:
Swallows & Crows - Songs that smell of seaweed on the beach, when you first heard
seagulls overhead, saw the sea and realised you couldn't cross to the other side.
Swallows and Crows is the evocative folk project of cellist composer Paddy Mitton. A
musical voyage trying to capture Cornwall's sonic soul. What started as a casual
collaboration with friends in the pub morphed into a full-fledged musical journey over many
years.
Inspired by the wild Cornish coast and the stories of those who call it home, Swallows and
Crows' signature sound combines folk music, sea shanties and hint of male voice choir.
Blending hooky melodies with stirring harmonies that echo the soulful ghosts of lost
mariners. A unique sonic identity dubbed as “brilliantly weird” by BBC Introducing. Cornish
cello violin sea shanty male voice choir folk music may well be a new genre.
20:15 - 21:00:
True Foxes - Having performed over 800 shows since forming in 2019, True Foxes are an
acclaimed alt-country/Americana cousin duo from Cornwall, rapidly gaining recognition
across the UK and internationally.
Led by Amie’s powerful vocals and soulful songwriting, often compared to Laura Marling
and Brandi Carlile, the duo blend acoustic guitar with Chloe’s ethereal harmonies and
melodic bass lines. Their honest storytelling, natural chemistry, and warm sisterly banter
take audiences on an emotional journey.
Their debut album, Howl (2024), received widespread acclaim and extensive radio
support, being named Americana Album of the Month by The Country Mile Radio and UK
Country Radio, alongside significant airplay across the UK and internationally. The album
earned glowing reviews from AmericanaUK, Rocking Magpie, and Fatea Magazine, and
saw the duo recognised as BBC Artist of the Week across eight territories.
True Foxes entered 2025 with a sold-out headline tour, followed by a summer of main-
stage festival performances including Between the Trees, Paradhis, Tunes in the Park,
OceanFest, and Sidmouth Folk Festival. In the autumn, they collaborated with folk legend
Steve Knightley, recording vocals for the Winter Yards album and performing live with the
Winter Yards Band across 24 cities.
Returning to their roots in early 2026, the duo will be performing across 21 Cornish
venues, including a church tour alongside singer Will Keating, performing songs such as
Cornwall my Home, as showcased on BBC Spotlight (2025). They will then be hitting the
road again in April for their album launch tour following the release of their highly
anticipated second album, Just a Woman, coming out in March 2026.Upcoming festival performances include Ely Folk Festival, Fisherman’s Friends Festival,
Beardy Folk, The Magpies Festival, and The Brasenose Fringe, with many more dates to
be announced.
